Moby To Play Surprise Gig At The NestWritten by Manu Ekanayake Wednesday, 30 March 2011 12:19 News -Londoners, you’ll be able to hear MOBY for a fiver (before 10pm) at The Nest this Saturday 2rd April. See, didn’t we tell you Stoke Newington was London’s newest clubbing destination? Let’s be honest, it’s pretty rare when Moby pops into town. And when he does, it’s usually to play a bigger gig at a fancier venue for a bigger price. BnB doesn’t blame him for that either, the man’s a big-name artist and he’s coming a long old way. Though he has been known to do last-minute London DJ gigs too – he played at a few of the Retox parties a few years back, slotting in amongst the many more standard club DJ types who made the party a Sunday night essential for many 48-hour-party people of the time. But now Moby’s back again, for no other reason than he fancied DJing in a small London venue ahead of his live gig at the Roundhouse in June. He chanced upon The Nest’s blog, we’re reliably informed by the club’s PR, Sophie Thomas, then decided that he liked the music policy (downtempo house, techno and disco) and the way they pushed local talent over big names. So he's playing as part of East London party collective Make Me’s Saturday-night takeover of The Nest, alongside residents Scott Dickie (Wildkats), Rubin and Rupes. So will he bang it with a main room set or keep it more low-key and interesting? Well, we know as much as you do (Moby never calls anymore) but you have to admit, it’ll be fun finding out.
