Moby Returns To Punk RockWritten by the B&B Crew Wednesday, 05 May 2010 10:24 NewsWe at BeatsandBeyond.com respect our heroes, and Moby definitely's one of them. But that doesn't mean we seriously doubt his latest punk project. Hold on. Punk + Moby... Could it be another Animal Rights in the making? Lord have mercy. Sure, we know it ain’t his first venture in to the world of long hair and guitars. In fact, the bald-headed electronic pioneer hails from the punk scene. His 1996 album Animal Rights was a bizarre piece of punk rock and we’ve got to admit, we hated it (along with pretty much all other critics on this planet). And now, Moby returns with a brand new punk antic called Diamond Snake. “I love making my own music, but I also really love making very loud heavy metal with friends,†Moby said on Twitter. The band was started last January after Moby contacted his friend Phil Costello, member of a Bee Gees coverband and a hardrock quartet called Satanicide, and asked him if he would be willing to start a band together. This eventually led to the creation of Diamond Snake and the recording of tracks with 80s-titles such as We Wanna Love You, What the World Needs Now Is Rock, Wrong Woman To Love. Diamond Snake will debut at the Highline Ballroom in New York on June 17th. Next to this show there are rumors about a show in Vegas, but no info about that has been confirmed yet. We wish Moby all the luck and fun he can ask for, but are secretly hoping for a brand new Moby pop-album in the near future… Moby - Face It (Taken from the 1996 Animal Rights album)
