Ministry Of Sound Declares War On File Sharing

One of the biggest firms in the bizz; Ministry Of Sound, has released the hounds on people who illegally share the label's discography. A total of 2000 names have already been gathered, and MOS's lawyers have already been instructed to take appropriate measures.

Ministry of Sound have been getting help of London-based law firm Gallant Macmillan to send all the people on the list a letter in which they offer a £350 out-of-court settlement. If not accepted the suspected file sharers will be taken to court which could result in more severe financial penalties.

This move indicates once more that the industry is intensifying their efforts to discourage illegal downloading and get a bit of their money back. Yet, critics of the move say this way of discoursing is very ineffective, and we can't help but agreeing. Michael Coyle, a legal source for the Guardian, said "these firms are trying to argue that just because you pay for the internet connection you are somehow responsible for everything that is downloaded on it – whether you were responsible or not. It just doesn't stand up in law."
