Mini Interview: Henry Saiz

Spanish DJ/producer Henry Saiz' has recently been touring across the US in support of his brilliant mix for the Balance series, released a few months ago on EQ Recordings. BnB's Haim Kalontar sat down for a short Q&A with the man himself...

I really enjoyed the Mediterranean Haunted Beach remix of your Lady In The Mirror track. How did this track came about?
Thanks! Well, I made this track in 2007 and I always thought the melody could be worked in many other ways, then I got the chance to re-work it and include it on Balance 019. I'm quite happy with the results. The track will be out soon as part of the Balance 019 single collection on my label Natura Sonoris.

Are you working on any vocal tracks?
Yeah, a lot. I really enjoy playing with vocals and make some really strange things using the latest technology on this.

Recently you've played in Israel. How was it?
The gig was nice, but I had too many problems in the airport with Mossad and police. To be honest it was so humiliating and surreal, I spent 4 hours in security controls being interrogated like I'm a kind of terrorist or something. Finally they ended up confiscating all my music gear, including my sound card, for no reason. I got my stuff back like 10 days after, it was a total nightmare to get new machines for my gigs during the trip. Especially because I was playing at Global Gathering the day after and they didn´t give a shit about it. Sad to say, but that was my trip to Israel!

Tell us a bit about your tour, have you been to the cities you're visiting?
Yeah, most of them, I'm touring this week in the USA and have never been to San Francisco and LA, so I´m really looking forward to it. And of course, New York and Mexico!

What are your upcoming plans?
After the Balance album tour I will focus on my artist album, my work under the alias Hal Incandenza, and my band Tyrane. Need to decide which album starts first…
