Masters In Session At The RoundhouseWritten by Manu Ekanayake Thursday, 28 July 2011 19:35 News -Hold the cheese burgers, it’s not Little Louie Vega and Kenny Dope – but it is a studio masterclass with dance music masters King Britt (left), Coldcut’s Jon More, Soul Clap, Dark Sky, Inxec, & Ben Westbeech. Those SPL bods just don’t stop! Not content with hosting an ace night at Camden’s Roundhouse where classic horror An Evening At The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari will be soundtracked by the Innervisions boys, the next night (Saturday 20th August) sees the crew behind some of the best parties in London (like Slowpoke and Go Deeper!) present Masters In Session: a day of studio skills and mentoring from some of dance music’s best for 12 specially selected 16-25 year olds. These 12 young people will get the chance to have their own un-mastered tracks (which can be submitted via the website above) engineered, produced and generally pimped-up by 6 seminal acts, including: Jon More of mash-up originators Coldcut and Ninja Tune; Philadelphia hip-hop and house man King Britt; the cooler-than-cool Boston edit kings Soul Clap; Brownswood and Defected man Ben Westbeech; post-dubsteppers Dark Sky and house & techno don Inxec. The Roundhouse uses its full studio, educational and rehearsal facilities to help more than 3000 11-25-year-olds a year; these facilities will be available to Masters In Session’s participants, as will the Roundhouse Records label, which will release all the finished tracks on a special compilation album. It's always good to see industry people giving back… and anyone who wants to participate, check out the links!
