London Dances For JapanWritten by Manu Ekanayake Wednesday, 16 March 2011 13:12 News -Friday 18th March sees Plastic People in East London present A Dance For Japan, an event being held to raise money for the Tsunami-stricken nation. In a time when tragedy is unfolding on a daily basis, it seems callous to be writing about club music and parties, but that’s what we do and that’s what we know – and this time the party couldn’t be for a better cause. A stunning cast of London DJs are gathering to raise money for Japan: Ashley Beedle tops the bill, but we’re happy to see ace remixers Leo Zero and Yam Who? playing alongside space disco kings Faze Action and The Cosmic Truth boys, Toni Rossano, Toru Yo and of course A Dance For Japan’s organiser Andy Newcombe too. All these DJs have a link to Japan; be it through playing there, visiting the country, or through a more personal connection, it’s always a family affair when something like this happens to a place many clubbers know and love. Japan has given clubland some great DJs (Def Mix don Satoshi Tomiie, ace turntabalist DJ Kentaro, Harvey-favourite Kenji Takimi and more recently BnB fave Tomoki Tamura) and some ace clubs (Womb and Yellow / Eleven, amongst others), so do the right thing and give a little something back... £10-£15 donation on the door. * Stop Press! Felix Buxton of Basement Jaxx has been added to the bill - he was due to play in Japan but he's coming here instead!*
