August Darnell aka Kid Creole is about to release his first LP in ten years. The album, entitled I Wake Up Screaming, is set to be released this fall and includes collaborations with Hercules & Love Affair's Andy Butler.

Darnell's career kicked of during the mid '70s in the form of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band. Not much later he produced a slew of eccentric projects for ZE Records, including Cristina, Don Armando's Second Avenue Rumba Band and Gichy Dan as well as debuting his Kid Creole & The Coconuts album. After signing to Island Records and Seymour Stein's Sire imprint he would score a string of chart topping hits during the 80s. Including Stool Pigeon, Annie I'm Not Your Daddy and I'm A Wonderful Thing Baby.

And now, 2011, the tropical gangster is back for a brand new LP on Strut Records. I Wake Up Screaming is described in the press release as "an epic new Creolian oddyssey" and was recorded at Darnell's studio in Sweden. The album is mixed by Brennan Green (Chinatown Records) and Lars Nissen and features co-compositions and co-productions with Hercules & Love Affair's Andy Butler.

The album will be preceded in July by the single I Do Believe, accompanied by remixes from Brennan Green, Faze Action, 40 Thieves and Emperor Machine. The album itself will be released on Strut Records September 13th.
