Kele Okereke Readies Solo Album

Kele Okereke of indie rock band Bloc Party will release his solo debut album The Boxer on 22 June. The album has been created together with Spank Rock producer XXXChange and sees Kele turning to the dynamics of electronic pop.

Now that Bloc Party is taking it (very, very) slow, Kele finally found the time to pursue a different musical path. "The key for the sound of the record was to take things as harsh and as physical as I could make it. The reason for going there was that these are the sounds that make me the happiest in the world." The album will be released under his first name Kele only, with the first single Tenderoni being scheduled for a June 14th release. Prior to the release, Kele will embark on an extensive European tour (check out his website for tour dates). Should be mad.

The Boxer will be released on June 22nd on Wichita/Polydor and Glassnote.

The Boxer tracklist:

1. Walk Tall
2. On the Lam
3. Tenderoni
4. The Other Side
5. Everything You Wanted
6 New Rules
7. Unholy Thoughts
8. Rise
9. All the Things I Could Never Say
10. Yesterday's Gone
