'Magic Juan' will relaunch his legendary techno label this week by releasing a brand new EP...

After a seven-year hiatus, Juan Atkins reecently announced to revive the seminal Detroit techno label by releasing a new EP by Kimyon, the Platform View EP. Metroplex was founded in 1985 by Juan Atkins, and soon grew out to become one of the most important labels in Detroit techno and electro. To date, the label spawned countless of classic tracks such as the legendary Model 500 cuts and releases from DJ Bone, Aaron Carl, and Eddie 'Flashin' Fowlkes.

The reason for the hiatus is not as dramatic as it sounds. According to its founder, the "label simply didn't have any releases". Moreover, Juan also revealed he's working on a new Model 500 album and is planning on re-releasing the label's entire back catalog.
