Hit The East Lines (With Alex Smoke, Dave Congreve & Luke vB)Written by Manu Ekanayake Friday, 01 July 2011 14:10 News -East Lines has secured an ace line-up for its second event at Basing House – now this is what Shoreditch Sundays should be about…
Sunday 3rd July sees two old Soma comrades reunited by East Lines – both Alex Smoke and Dave Congreve have history with the Scottish label, where Alex released his first two albums of throbbing techno, Incommunicado (2005) and Paradolia (2006), before launching his own Hum+Haw imprint for last year’s Lux. And Dave (along with former partner in Repeat Repeat, Mark Rutherford) released Squints on Soma in 2006, tapping a vein of pulsing underground tunes that still sound excellent today. But while Alex Smoke is a favoured visitor to London, both Dave Congreve and East Lines third guest Luke vB are long-serving veterans of London’s house & techno scene. Dave is a real BnB favourite and was a resident at the seminal T Bar (both incarnations). Meanwhile, Luke runs Superfreq with Mr C, so he’s clearly up-to-date with the finest underground sounds – a fine booking amongst a very talented line-up. But there’s really no ‘just’ about it, as they’re both talented purveyors of underground house & techno in their own rights – Paul’s been a resident of ace local night Prologue since virtually day one, where you’ll often him and Mr Hall playing alongside names as diverse as Red Robin, Swayzak or Norman Jay.
