Details surrounding his surgery have not (yet) been made available. Guru (Keith Elam, 43) rose to prominence as one half of influential hip hop duo Gang Starr which he formed together with DJ Premier. Gang Starr released six albums until their unofficial split-up in 2003. As a solo artist, Guru released seven albums under his Jazzmattazz moniker, of which the most recent is Lost And Found (2009).
