Fabric ON returns – with Ricardo Villalobos, Dinky and Modern Deep Left QuartetWritten by Manu Ekanayake Wednesday, 04 August 2010 09:00 News - Fabric has another 15-hour special planned for Saturday 21st August, this time starring Ricardo Villalobos, his Chilean compatriot Dinky and the Modern Deep Left Quartet – aka Matthew Johnson’s Cobblestone Jazz and their old friend, The Mole.  If ever there was a DJ the Fabric ON parties were made for, it’s Ricardo Villalobos. The mercurial beatsmith could take Room 1 in direction you wish to name: jazzy excursions, old school house, minimal sounds; you never know which way he’ll go. If you did, it just wouldn’t be Ricardo. Also in Room 1 is Dinky, whose innovative take on house & techno has made for some essential productions (check out her 2009 album Anemik) on labels like Cocoon and Wagon Repair - who’ve also released the music of Modern Deep Left Quartet. This famous foursome (which features the Coblestone Jazz trio plus The Mole) combines inprov jazz with serious dancefloor appeal –only in a live setting. Meanwhile Room 2 sees Glasgow techno dons Slam take over, alongside Fabric’s own Terry Francis, with a master class in harder techno sounds. Plus UK acid house hero Baby Ford runs things in Room Three, with dub house friends Swayzak.  Sounds like a hell of a night (and day...) Â
