A few words were all it took to have a whole nation of ravers turning pale, but it seems that we can disregard Ben Watt's Twitter messages about London club Fabric being on the brink of closure. Or can we?
The London producer and Buzzin' Fly label boss said he heard it through the grapevine that Fabric and Matter were about to go belly up. In a matter of moments, hundreds of message boards copied the news, leaving countless clubbers grasping for breath. Ben Watt later deleted his comment though and sended out a tweet saying “I seem to have upset some people revealing news that i thought others knew. it was not my intention. apologies.â€. The harm was done by that time though and the news was all over the web.
The management of Fabric did not respond to the news, and only told us that the weekend program was still on. But with Fabric’s sister club in Greenwich just being closed for the summer the rumour persisted. This afternoon Fabric finally spoke the liberating words that they continue business as usual. "The directors of fabric are currently dealing with financial problems due to the result of the Jubilee Line closures at matter. Consequentially, matter will definitely remain closed throughout summer. However, Fabric will very much remain open as normal, business as usual." - Fabric.
