Don’t Forget Japan With FabricWritten by Manu Ekanayake Tuesday, 10 May 2011 20:15 Japan News -London’s fabric has two parties coming up to help the Japanese relief effort. Thursday 12th May sees a bass-fest with Goldie, Hatcha and friends, while Thursday 26th May sees the likes of Coxy, Diggers and Maya Jane Coles keeping it house & techno all night long. The special Don’t Forget sessions from fabric are all about keeping the momentum going with the Japanese relief effort – those kinds of problems don’t get solved overnight. None of the DJs gets paid, so all the money raised on the night goes to four of the charities that are helping Japan rebuild: the Red Cross Disaster Fund, New Zealand Embassy Christchurch Earthquake Appeal, Red Dot Relief and The Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund. It’s great to see that some thought has gone into these line-ups – there’s been real effort to mix old masters with new acts on both bills by fabric and the co-promoters who are running these nights. The big and bassy first party has newcomers like Rockwell and Roska playing alongside the Hospitality and Shogun Audio all-star line-up that features Goldie, Hatcha, London Elektricity and High Contrast. Meanwhile, the masterful old hands of the 4/4 world Carl Cox and John Digweed share the bill with relative newcomers Tomoki Tamura, Enzo Siragusa, Geddes and especially girl of the moment Maya Jane Coles. A nice mix of house and techno artists here too, so well done Holic and Safehouse Management on that score. Top line-ups for a top cause – and something for everyone to enjoy.
