The three day event hosts the world’s best jocks and sees fans from all over the world flock to the US city.
Detroit, of course, played an important role in the history of techno and house music, and the yearly Movement festival ensures it still does today. Every genre known to mankind is featured at the three day party marathon, and the list of names just goes on and on. A small taste of those performing? Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig, Adam Beyer, Aril Brikha, Fatboy Slim, James Zabiela, Heartthrob, Sven Vath and Monolake all climb the stage at Movement this year, amongst many others. For a full run down and the time and day they play, head over to the Movement website. Besides DJs and liveacts, Movement also gives other artists a stage to perform. This year six teams were granted $ 1000,- by the Detroit Creative Corridor Center and the Detroit Techno Foundation, to put up their major art installation for display. “Over the last four years we have subtly incorporated a community art component into the design of the festival grounds and each year the reaction from the attendees and performers has been very positive,” said Sam Fotias, the operations director for Movement. “This year we decided to partner with CAMP Detroit and Detroit Creative Corridor Center to take the visual art displays we have onsite to the next level."
