Dennis Ferrer Shows Us His Red RoomWritten by Manu Ekanayake Wednesday, 03 November 2010 15:00 Hot new house -Let’s be honest, Dennis Ferrer is as close to a superstar as deep house has got at the moment, 4/4 renaissance or not. So you know we had to check out his new EP, The Red Room, which is out on Objektivity now… The Red Room sounds very much like DF’s answer to his own all-conquering Hey Hey – even Pete Tong’s been rinsing this one, but the thing about Denis Ferrer is that his house sound appeals to everyone from the UK funky crowd of bass-loving young’uns to longtime clubland mainstays like the man Tongy and his Radio 1 peers. And in-keeping with that multi-generational vibe, you can see that Dennis has got the young guns of the scene firmly in his corner with who he’s chosen to remix his new smash. Kyle ‘MF’ Hall might only be 19(!) but the young Detroit-based producer is already a veteran of labels as varied as Hyperdub, Warp and FXHE. His MeMix is a heavy little number, as you might expect from one of techno’s newest stars. Then there’s a housier dub session from Ferrer’s own young protégés, The Martinez Brothers, who’ve hooked up with Ibadan’s Jerome Sydenham for a warmer take on The Red Room. Check it on Beatport before it’s everywhere… Dennis Ferrer - The Red Room by Objektivity
