Dan Ghenacia Takes Us To ParisWritten by the B&B Crew Tuesday, 15 March 2011 17:00 News - Ministry of Sound is launching a new mix series entitled Sound of the City and the first edition comes from the hands of Circo Loco resident Dan Ghenacia. This first installment will revolve around Dan’s hometown Paris, more specifically, Paris during the 90’s.
The whole concept of this new compilation is looking back on the best musical periods of specific cities, for this first one we will be looking back on the Parisian scene from ’94 till 2000. At that time Paris was slowly being infiltrated by the sounds of underground clubs, in which Dan played a prominent role as a resident of the after hours club The Batofar. "The 90's was when French producers took their first steps in the world of dance music, we were one of the last countries to be touched by house and techno," he explains. "Along with my good friends Ivan Smagghe, Didier Sinclair and Jef K, we soon formed a network of people in Paris that preferred dancing to our style of playing records and it was also at this time that I started getting closer to the Circo Loco team." Going down the tracklist you will come by the names of Black Strobe, BT, DJ Deep, Layo and Buschwaka. Krikor, and Phil Weeks. Ministry of Sound will release Sound of the City – Dan Ghenacia’s Paris May 16th. Tracklist
