Check Out 3partSand (With Basteroid –LIVE!)

If your idea of a good Friday night involves underground electronic sounds in a sleazy-ass venue, check out 3partSand’s gig at the Russian Bar, Dalston, on Friday 8th July.

While minimal-tech has become the uniform soundtrack of 4/4 nights in London, the better nights have always taken a wider musical approach. 3partSand’s Ash Seabourne & Jon Hughes take their inspiration from parties like Tyrant, which should explain their fondness for mixing house-techno-proper electro in the stripper-pole toting Russian Bar on Kingsland Road, their base since 2006.

Tonight the duo welcome special guest Basteroid (aka Sebastian Riedl of Berlin’s Areal Records) to the Russian Bar’s basement for a live set.

Basteroid - Clavilux by Areal Records

‘We love the unmistakably awkward streak in each and every track Sebastian puts out,’ 3partSand’s Ash explains. ‘It stretches from the earlier hooky aggression of Aggrobatik to later more forcefully brutal tracks like Rabimmel and Against Luftwiderstand. Even his most recent release, Clavilux, which is more housey, still has the awkward yet clinical high-end detail that compliments the rugged and usually phat low-end... all of which never fails to set off his amazing synth melodies.’

Meanwhile upstairs at the Russian sees local crew Mix O Soup throwing down some deep house, as Maik Yells, Monika Ross and Riva showcase the quality sounds that have got their parties at the nearby Bar Music Hall jumping. We wish it was Friday already…
