Celebrate 20 Years Of Planet E With Carl Craig & FriendsWritten by Manu Ekanayake Tuesday, 15 February 2011 09:00 C2 In London! Carl Craig’s label, Planet E, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with an international tour – this is their London bash, plus it’s Carl’s only London DJ date this year. Reach! Carl Craig will be celebrating his two decades on Planet E at the Ewer Street Warehouse (SE1 0N) on Saturday 5th March, alongside guests Francois K and Radio Slave (in Arch 1) and Paul Woolford and Psycatron – LIVE ( in Arch 2). It’s certainly going to quite a show, with such a collection of talented DJs all celebrating one of the best-loved exponents of Detroit techno and his genre-shaping label. Carl's influence has shaped techno as a whole – whether by being nominated for a Grammy for his 2008 remix of Junior Boys Like A Child or simply creating tracks that the rest of the scene considers standpoints of sound, like At Les, 4 Jazz Funk Greats (which launched Planet E) or any of the Paperclip People material. But there’s more to old C2 than just his productions; Planet E has also released music from artists as varied as Moodyman and Kevin Saunderson, or Alton Miller and Irish duo Psycatron, who play at this event in celebration of the label where they have won their biggest props. Joining them on the bill are house legend Francois K, whose own studio career goes back to the late 70s, and modern day house & techno dons Matt ‘Radio Slave’ Edwards and Paul Woolford. Francois’ sets are always powerhouses of various sounds, but both Matt and Paul have the capacity to surprise and amaze in equal measure – the one thing each of these guys have in common is their technical skill... just like the birthday boy himself.
