Carl Craig & Friendly Fires Hit The Boiler RoomWritten by Manu Ekanayake Thursday, 10 November 2011 19:54 News -One of Detroit’s techno legends and one of the UK's best bands team up for a Boiler Room session, alongside fellow DJs Axel Boman and Paul Woolford.
The Boiler Room sessions are a weekly Ustream broadcast that showcases the best in cutting-edge electronic music, via DJ sets spunt at an intimate session in the Corsica Studios in South London. Originally started in an old boiler room in Hackney (see what they did there?) the series has seen everyone from dubstep don James Blake to the house-loving secretsundaze boys, via Thom Yorke from Radiohead, play a set that’s also broadcast live to a home viewing community of thousands. But even for Boiler Room, getting Carl Craig is a massive coup, especially as he’s bringing along the artists he’s just remixed, Friendly Fires. Each headliner has bought along their DJ of choice too, with C2 bringing his Planet E label artist Paul Woolford (of We Love… Space infamy) and the Friendly Fires hosting Axel Boman, a former student at the Red Bull Music Academy and now a Pamper Records artist. And Carl will also provide the first airing of his new remix of Friendly Fires track Show Me Lights. So expect house and techno that shimmers and throbs, as Mr Craig shows us what he’s learnt from ’20 Fucking Years Of Planet E’ (the title of his forthcoming anniversary compilation). Proper.
