Camp Bestival - More Than Just Great MusicWritten by Mitch Davis Sunday, 10 July 2011 14:12 Festival - Summer is now in full swing and in 21st century Europe that means more festivals that you can shake a pint of pear cider to. One of these is Bestival, taking place end this month at Lulworth Castle, Dorset, UK... Of these, BBC Radio 1's Rob Da Bank's Bestival, year on year, has shined through with it's impeccable line up of music, comedy, children's entertainment and eccentric British attitude. His smaller, more family oriented, multi award winning Camp Bestival is set to take place at the end of this month, set in the grounds of Lulworth Castle, Dorset, in what is described as an "idyllic festi-holiday" Primal Scream presents Screamadelica headlines the Sunday night, closing a weekend which will include live music from the likes of Blondie, Mark Ronson and the Business Intl, Laura Marling and 90's Irish Hip Hop oufit House of Pain. DJ's from across clubland will include the uber cool Disco Bloodbath, Cut n Paste Mixtape pioneer and DMC World scratch champion DJ Yoda, rapidly popular Ibiza Rocks resident Doorly, Barry Ashworth's Dub Pistols Soundsytem, Jaguar Skills, Groove Armada presents Red Light, breaks maestro Krafty Kuts and the amazing Electric Sheep recording artist Luv*Jam amongst a multitude of others. Children's entertainment has been carefully programmed too, with BBC television's Mr Tumble, Dick & Dom, The Gruffalo (live), Shrek the Musical and 100s of free things laid on to keep them busy. Add to all that, amazing food from the likes of Hugh Fearnley Whitingstall’s River Cottage Café, Kerstin Rodgers’ Underground Restaurant and Gizzi Erskine’s Tiki Tea Love Lounge, and you can clearly see why I am looking forward to taking my son there this year. Beatsandbeyond will be amongst it all this year, interviewing DJ's and acts, sampling the food and giving you a full post event report. Let's hope the sun wants to attend to....
