BnB Review: Puresque - Leitmotiv

imageTechno -

After an excellent introduction in the form of 2011s Vor Leitmotiv EP, Paul Brtschitsch and Michael Kunz now present their First longplayer as Puresque on Tresor. Here’s what we think of it.

Paul and Michael are most certainly no new faces in house and techno. Both have quite a few years of experience under the belt, with most notably Paul having release a slew of serious tech house grooves over the past two decades. The Puresque project sees both boys experimenting with a more traditional techno-based sound, which matches perfectly to Tresor’s recent output. After a dark ambient opening, the album soon switches to four-to-the-floor techno grooves. Each track features a relatively slow build-up in which bass, percussion and arped synths serve as jigsaw pieces that altogether form twelve rather sinister sounding tracks. Tunes such as Reederwerk, Im Keller and Salamander reflect that dirty Tresor basement sound, while others such as the Detroit-ish Säbelrasseln, the electro-tinged Grenzwolf and album closer Tagtraumer provide more than enough diversity to keep things exciting until the end.

Our verdict:
Puresque have dropped a very credible first longplayer with twelve very nice techno tracks. As a whole, the album sounds very ‘Tresor’, while at the same time holding enough twists to satisfy clubbers with a penchant for muscular tech-house. Definitely worth checking out, we say.
