BnB Last-minute London Action

We try and feature all the best parties in town, but sometimes some slip through the cracks. So here are the best things on this weekend, for all you last-minute ravers out there…

Mulletover’s January Sale:
This is one of only three mulletover parties this year, so head on down to this on Sat 29th January for some tech-house mastery from Sebo K (above), Swedish techno from duo Skudge and host Geddes’ classy grooves in the main room too. Plus second room action (in the secret locale) with Bristol’s Future Boogie; who combine their residents El Harvo, Kid Bongo and Joe 90’s rabid dancefloor eclecticism with a disco-based DJ set from Crazy P. And they’ve just announced some afters with Lo*kee too…

Trouble Vision presents Double Trouble:
One of the sickest line-ups we’ve seen in a long time, spanning over Friday 28th and Saturday 29th January. Friday’s got the Corsica heaving with bass-fuelled business from reggae legend David Rodigan, while Raf Daddy and Toddla T showcase their Girls Music label with jungle don Shy FX, Mosca and Breach too. Then on Saturday, Detroit legend Theo Parrish plays a 3 hour set alongside Motor City Drum Ensemble and Trouble Vision resident Park Ranger. Meanwhile the second room throbs along with AUS Music, Will Saul’s label that links house, techno and dubstep – expect 2 hour sets from the man himself plus his good friends Ramadanman and Midland. Amazing.

Yes, Plastic People may have had to change a few things after its brush with closure last year (expect a heavier security presence nowadays) but they’re still bumping the best underground electronic music around. On Saturday it’s Eglo Records boss Floating Points – a huge name in modern house circles – and Caribou, whose music shows that electronica CAN be funky, when it feels like it. Essential.

And if you want a great weekend warm-up, then check out A Gentleman’s Pinch. It’s a  pub-social do run by Terry Farley (Faithfanzine.com / JBO), with an emphasis on funk and soul sounds. It’s a nice little Friday-night drinker – and tonight it’s a Northern Soul special!
