Bloc 2011 Ends With Laurent Garnier and Matthew Dear

Bloc, the insanely good festival that takes place at Butlins, Mindhead has announced that they will end with Laurent Garnier showing off his new L.B.S  show. And Matthew Dear joins the closing line-up too. Isn’t it time you booked that ticket?

Bloc’s closing bash will be hosted by Shine, the Belfast techno party. Matthew Dear takes the reins first to DJ, then Monsieur Garnier will take to the stage with his special L.B.S show. It's a mix of live show and DJing that aims to show off the skills of all three performers: Benjamin Rippert (his longtime keyboardist), Stephane X (better known to fans of F Com as Scan X) and of course Laurent himself. These skills have, of course, been honed over years of playing together; though Laurent’s fascination with mixing his DJing and live music together to create a new experience altogether.

Or as Laurent says, ‘Why not play other people's records alongside my own tracks, played live? Why not put the two together to make one?’ Hard to argue with that, right?

We’ve been big fans of Laurent’s jazzier excursions over the years, but this mix of styles sounds pretty special to us. Just make sure you’re not too tired after Aphex Twin, Billy Nasty, Four Tet, Joy Orbison… the list goes on. Just check the line-up and pray Bloc hasn't already sold out!
