Benga & Skream Join Radio 1

Radio 1 Changes -

BBC Radio 1 has announced a new line-up for its Thursday night show, In New DJs We Trust.  Now Skream & Benga and Dutch electro-house man Chuckie join Jaymo & Andy George, Toddla T and Heidi on the weekly show.

After its recent dubstep takeover (last Saturday Radio 1 was all-dubstep, all night from 7pm-7am with the likes of Benga, Skream and Benji B highlighting the hot sound) it seems that Radio 1 isn’t ending its love affair with the wub-wub anytime soon.

That’s because those Magnetic Men, Benga & Skream, will have a regular slot on the In New DJs We Trust show, which goes out on Thursdays at 9pm. They’ll be joined by fellow new boy Chuckie, one of Holland’s biggest electro-housers, on the new line-up – which sees Heidi relegated to the occasional 5^th Thursdays that occur in 2011 (on the 31st March, 30th June and 29th September respectively).

Ollie Skream says, ‘It's amazing, who would have thought me and Benga would bless the airwaves. I'm not sure if Radio 1 knows what they've let themselves in for, to be honest!

But this shake-up isn’t the only change that’s afoot. The In New DJs We Trust show takes over the airwaves from Monday 24^th January 2011, for a week of nightly 9-10pm shows. And thenthere’s In New DJs We Trust LIVE at Sheffield University’s Student’s Union on Friday 28^th January, to celebrate new music from all over clubland.
