Last weekend saw the announcement of the winners of the Beatport Music Awards 2010. For the third consecutive year, Deadmau5 went home with most awards and in our opinion, the rest of the list is equally uninteresting.
The Beatport Music Awards is based solely upon sales data from March 2009 to March 2010 and categorized by musical genre (which, by the way, is often subject to heavy debate). Next to Best Artist and Best Track awards (separated into 18 and 17 genres respectively) the public is asked to name the most influential and forward thinking person in electronic music over the past 12 month. This year that award once again went to Deadmau5.
Deadmau5 also got awards for 'Best Progressive House Track', 'Best Electro House' and 'Best Progressive House' producer. Next to Deadmau5 the other usual suspects got their awards as well, including Swedish House Mafia, Axwell, Plump DJ's, Boys Noize, A-Trak, Armin Van Buuren and many other. Yawn.
