[a:rpia:r] And Cocoon Come To London

Romania’s minimal-tech trio, Raresh, Petre Inspirescu and Rahdoo, hit the UK capital hard on Saturday 9th April for a Cocoon party at a secret Central London location.

It’s been a couple of years since the [a:rpia:r] boys came to London (in fact, we know people who are still banned from The Coronet after last time out, but the less said about that the better) so it’s with some anticipation that we write about this one.

After all, Cocoon’s Big Daddy himself, the mighty Sven Väth, is responsible for the elevation of the [a:rpia:r] boys, whose 8- hour-set should please their many UK fans who’ve missed them while they’ve been away.  Their ability to mix up minimal techno and more classic house flavours is just what you need when you’re playing a long set like this, so we’re sure this will be one for the record books – let’s face it, Cocoon parties are known for their duration and debauchery at the best of times, but with these guys on the decks, well, don’t plan on functioning too well on Monday.

But don’t sleep on the second room either.  Markus Fix’s work on Cécille Records shows that he’s someone whose music has both depth and character, while Ilario Alicante’s work on the same label…well, cop a listen to Living Near Africa and tell us it won’t wreck the place. Solid sounds with just a hint of jazz – perfect.
