French ambient duo Air is set to release Le Voyage Dans La Lune, a soundtrack to the 1902 silent pre sci-fi movie of the same name.
Air's music has always been subjet to a cinematic approach, so it was only a matter of time before they would deliver a soundtrack. Air already presented some music for the film during the Cannes film festival last May, and they now present a full album to the famed 16-minute movie. says the finished product is "undoubtedly more organic" than Air's past work. "Everything is played live," says Air's Nicolas Godin. "We wanted it to sound 'handmade,' 'knocked together,' a bit like Méliès' special effects."
The album will be made available on CD next February and in a pack (limited to 70,000 copieS) featuring a DVD with a colour version of the movie.
