Aeroplane Loses One Pilot

Aeroplane will be a solo act from now on, as Stephan Faso has left his old partner Vito De Luca in-charge. This is an oddly-timed move for the successful electro-disco duo (as was) because their debut album is due to be released in September.

Sometimes artists stop working together – the friendship's not as strong as it was, the musical chemistry's not there anymore, or they just want to change their lifestyle. These things happen. But usually after the big successes, not when they've only just begun.

Aeroplane, after all, was the 500th act to record an Essential Mix for Pete Tong on Radio 1. And a great mix it was too, showing off both the duo's skills and the contribution their sound has made to dance music as a whole. It felt fresher than anything we've heard on the EM in a long time...
But it seems that wasn't enough to keep Stephan and Luca together, as the latter explained on Facebook.

'Maybe you don't know this, but Stephen and I have been working together for more than 7 years now. 7 years of good and bad times. 7 years of creating different projects, exploring different directions. Today, we are more excited and passionate than ever about creating new music.'

However, Luca's the one keeping the Aeroplane flying, as in his own words, 'Recently, I've been responsible for most of the music and the studio work. Aeroplane became more mine than his.'
