A Love From Outer Space Weekender

Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston’s slowed-down house and disco bash presents two London events this month, with the first ALFOS session of the year followed by a special live show the following night…

A Love From Outer Space has blossomed into one of BnB’s favourite London events, so we’re happy to see them back for 2012, especially in rejuvenated form. That’s because as well as touring recently (Newcastle, Glasgow and Bristol have all recently been slowed down by their chugging grooves), they’ve got their first regular party of the year at The Drop in Stoke Newington on Thursday 16th February. Always a good reason to start the weekend early...

But the following night sees something out of the ordinary: Friday 17th February sees ALFOS main man Andrew Weatherall curate Sub Sonic Live’s ‘Live From Outer Space’, which sees him booking bands and DJs for a party that celebrates both new talents and respected performers.

This Fred Perry-sponsored shindig will be held at The Garage in Islington, with Mr Weatherall DJing in the main room alongside ALFOS / Hardway Bros man Sean Johnston. Meanwhile there’s live sounds from Weatherall-faves Warm Digits and Night Angles, while the always-amazing Optimo boys rock the Legends Room with their usual lack of respect for genre-constraints. Meanwhile over in the Discovery Room there’s Scott Fraser and Timothy J Fairplay; two longtime Weatherall-associates (Tim's even his studio engineer) who are making serious noise on labels like Rush Hour and World Unknown. Both look set for a big year production-wise, catch them here first…
