1982: India Goes Acid House

imageNews

We take it you're familiar with acid house? Late 80's, Chicago, Summer of Love, you know the drill. Well, seems like those Indian ravers back in '82 were playing around with 808s and 303s a tad bit earlier.

Electronicbeats.net posted an item yesterday about Indians inventing acid-house which to us sounded a bit ridiculous. But well, here is the deal: Somewhere around 1982 some Indian guy going by the name of Charanjit Sigh was playing around with his 303 and 808 and produced the first real acid-house track. Sadly the track got lost, and only a few vinyl copies were left.

However, the guys of Soul Jazz managed to get their hands on a copy and decided to re-master and re-release it. One questions remains though: did DJ Pierre visit India somewhere in the 80's and got his inspiration from this track? Is this the real deal? Or is it a clever marketing campaign which we are all buying. No matter what, it's a cool track, just check it below and let us know you thoughts!
