BnB Review: Loopmasters Sample Pack: Santos - Private Tech House Collection

Gear - One of Loopmasters’ most exciting sample packs for tech-house producers is the one made by seasoned producer Santos. Here’s the full analysis.
Among the latest contributions to the Loopmasters sample treasury is this huge pack created by Italian producer Santos, known for having released over 400 (!) releases in the past ten years. And Santos knows just what the producer is looking for, as evidenced by his massive sample pack. Let’s first go over some specs: the full download gets you no less that 1.4 GBs of sounds, which equals 600 samples divided in a wide number of categories. There's 330 loops between 115 and 126 bpm, 270 one shot samples recorded at 24Bit and 62 patches for Reason NNXT, Halion, EXS, SFZ and Kontakt compatible soft samplers. Enough to keep yourself in heavy studio lockdown for weeks to come.
Now, is it any good? Yessir. We ran an extensive test in Ableton and found ourselves nodding our head to a self-produced massively rocking rhythm within mere minutes (much to the hilarity of bypassers, and chagrin of the neighbors). And it’s plain to see why: this sample pack delivers sheer quality sounds tailored for the production of house, tech-house and techno. We first dug through a serious heap of pre-made loops, of which the vast majority are top-of-the-bill chunks of floorflilling beat mania that will cater to any tech house fanatic out there. Just add a bit of EQing, a compressor and perhaps, oh I don’t know, some delay and you’ve got yourself a kick-ass foundation for your track. Great stuff, but we’re always more fond of constructing our very own rhythms, and this is where the gold-plated one-shot samples come in handy. Bass hits, drum hits, fx, synth hits and multi's, it’s all there for the taking and God they’re good. The drum hits folder comes with a massive amount of percussive hits that will really make your creative outings a whole lot punchier and richer. Some of the drum hits contain an underlying bass or after effect, which results in surprising twists when added to your soft sampler. Last up in the main folder category are the Wav Loops and again we have to say they’re incredibly suitable for both copy and pasting as adjusting to meet your demands.
Our verdict:
While we’ve heard many great sample packs before, Santos’ addition has become a refreshing, incredibly useful, envelope-pushing sample pack. The Loop part is astounding, but what really excited us where the awesome one-shot samples. Another great value for money product from Loopmasters, hands down.
