Vans Warped Tour 2010 Heats Up The Desert

Not even the 110 degree heat kept avid concert revelers from enjoying the 16th annual Vans Warped Tour in Phoenix, Arizona on June 29, 2010.

 

Punk rock appreciators in their teens and early 20's eagerly rushed the grounds at Cricket Pavilion to check out their favorite bands, hone their skateboarding skills at the Vans Skate Ramp, or diligently wait in line for that much desired band signature.

Beginning on June 25th thru August 15th, 100 performing acts are making stops in 43 cities. The Vans Warped Tour 2010 is in the midst of its trek across North America. Here are highlights from some of the bands who performed there.  

Alkaline Trio at Vans Warped Tour 2010

Alkaline Trio, who is currently on tour promoting their 2010 album release, This Addiction, performed with great angst to a sea of concertgoers. This talented band of three, lead by vocalist/guitarist Matt Skiba, delivered a wallop of sounds comparable to bands with four or more members. Fans who were assembled at the set thrashed along to Alkaline Trio's penetrating hits such as "This Addiction", "Help Me", and "I Found Away". The threesome played in perfect rhythm solidifying their place as one of the most beloved punk bands of today.

The All American Rejects at Vans Warped Tour 2010

Donning a 50's Beatlesque alabaster suit, lead singer Tyson Ritter lead The All-American Rejects to an exhilarating performance on the main stage. Their set was so full of life the band could've easily entertained an arena filled with their doting fans. The onlookers ardently jumped around and clapped their hands as they heard the group play their hit songs "Move Along" and "Gives You Hell". Tyson made the young girls swoon during The All-American Rejects' mega-hit "Dirty Little Secret" as all eyes were glued on him. It was indeed an unforgettable set.

Dillinger Escape Plan at Vans Warped Tour 2010

As the sun sank into the western horizon, The Dillinger Escape Plan began their electrifying, no holes barred show closing out the day's festivities. Greg Puciato (lead singer) gave it his all as he belted out the lyrics to the vein-popping and ever popular "Chinese Whispers" and the pulsating "Milk Lizard". The band couldn't seem to contain their energy and had a near collision on stage amongst Ben Weinman (lead guitarist), Liam Wilson (bassist), and Greg Puciato. Thankfully all band members were left unscathed and delivered an awesome display of musical aggression.

Riverboat Gamblers at Vans Warped Tour 2010

The sweat was flying and the energy was intensifying as Riverboat Gamblers took to the Ernie Ball stage. As the sun radiated and shined directly onto the band, they were generating their own heat in traditional punk style that Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten would be proud of. Vocalist Mike Weibe tirelessly moved back and forth on the platform as he covered every inch of the stage while keeping pace to the highly charged music. Riverboat Gamblers rocked out to their hit songs "Robots May Break Your Heart" and "Something To Crow About". These young men from the suburbs of Austin, Texas are keeping the spirit of punk music alive.
