What: The Loveland Festival 2010 at the Sloterpark in Amsterdam

Who: Fedde Le Grand, Sander Kleinenberg, Sebastian Leger, Oxia, Felix da Housecat, Shameboy, Joost van Bellen, Egbert AND MANY MANY MORE!

BnB Rating: 8+

In July and August all festival lovers in Holland got what they want (and deserve); a festival every weekend! Last weekend the Loveland Festival 2010 took place at the Sloterpark in Amsterdam. A cool location near a small lake. Stages near the water side, people arriving by boat and a small beach to top things of. Combined with the good weather this was going to be an unforgettable day.

The Loveland festival was held for the fifth time and therefore the festival had a special twist. The theme was a kind of a 80's roller disco. Good choice, especially with the silent roller disco where only 80's disco music was played! The festival was completely sold out, which did not came as a surprise with a line-up including Sander Kleinenberg, Sebastian Leger, Oxia and many more!

When the BeatsandBeyond crew arrived at the FIRE! Stage Egbert just finished his set. He played a live set and the future of Dutch techno music sounded convincing. I hope to see a full live set of him soon because it must have been a wicked set according to the cheering of the crowd. After Egbert the French DJ/producer Oxia was starting his set. He has always been one of my favourite DJ's and this time he played an entertaining set once more. His pumping tech-house style created an energetic vibe in the crowd and ensured some moving feet.

To fill up the gap between Oxia and Felix da Housecat we stopped at the Underground stage. Michael Mayer , the Kompakt honcho, played a more techno kind of set. More dark than Oxia and a bit more Berlin orientated then the rest of Loveland. A sharp DJ to check out a full set of, or maybe a Supermayer set.

Next up was the single jock why many people like electro/eloectro pop/clash and all things dirty. Felix da Housecat! The flamboyant DJ is a pioneer in electronic music and always plays an awesome set. This time we got the opportunity to see the master at work backstage, drinking some tequila with him and just admiring that guy and what he does! He is always in for a party and he also has full time access to two bottles of the finest tequila when he is DJ-ing. The crowd was loving him and people were going wild. Especially when one of his own creations with Diddy 'Jack U' was played the energy level in the tent exploded!

After this killing set we set off to the 80's roller disco. A very nice and creative feature on this festival. You could hire some roller skates and headphones to check out the various DJ's while skating around. Probably a lot of people hit the floor, no serious injuries though. With the sounds of Ron Carroll and Felix da Housecat (again!) this stage was probably the coolest of them all.

Fedde Le Grand did the closing set on the T-Dansant Stage. This stage was one of two opened until 23.30 so most of the people ended their day at this stage. Fedde did his thing and with the fire works the day came to an unforgettable end. I know I will be back next year. I've noticed this festival gets better every edition. The line-up, the set-up and the crowd surely did!
