Love Family Park 2011
Written by Marijn van Laerhoven

Cosmopop once again gathered the love family on Sunday the 3rd of July at Mainwiessen, Hanau in Germany. Hanau may be a long drive away from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, but it's one that has proven to be well worth it year in year out. And so BnB happily hopped aboard the Weiterexpress bus to report on Love Family Park edition numero sixteen.
Event details
Love Family Park
Mainwiessen, Hanau (Germany)
From 10:00 to 22:000
Tickets: €36,-
Visitors: around 15.000

Location
The Mainwiessen park is a beautiful location with plenty of green, and plenty of space. If you're up for a dance you'll definitely find a spot up in front but if you're more into a relaxing type of mood there's plenty of space in the back where you can sit down and relax, and have fun watching others go wild. The highway overpass makes up for a nice touch for the viewing eye, but also a practical one: sun shade. This year's edition lacked the insanely high temperatures and sunburns from the previous years but with heavy rainfalls terrorizing other festivals (Fusion) we're only glad we kept it dry in Hanau.
Logistics
One of the things we noticed is that Cosmopop has finally updated their payment system. Rather than getting a silly card we now finally received Love Family Park-drink tokens. The German pfand-system stays in place, but where we complained about the small and easy-to-loose pfand-vouchers of Time Warp, we were very glad to see the vouchers of today had been made both larger and thicker, and therefore much easier to find back (we still found one in our pockets afterwards, but that's okay). All in all LFP is a festival very well organized, the only that's kinda missing is a place to safely store your belongings.

Music
Although this year's lineup did miss some of our personal favorites (Richie Hawtin, Magda), there's absolutely no reason to complain. At floor 2 in particular we had a very good time with some very exciting sets by Matthias Tanzmann and Loco Dice in particular. We weren't all that impressed by Kollektiv Turmstrasse's live performance at floor 3 but stayed for the full set anyway. It's always good to see Mathias Kaden & Daniel Stefanik go nuts behind the decks but as we knew we'd see them at the CocoonClub afterhour we made the decision to get back to floor 2 for Loco Dice's set – Dice, Dice Baby! After that we joined the Sven Vath madness at floor 1, and left and came back from a dance over at Karotte's.

Final words: atmosphere / vibe
The location may be nice, the sound systems superb and the DJ's in top shape; if there's one aspect this festival excels in it's easily the unique vibe amongst it's loyal (international) visitors. The energy. This year again, we just had so much fun with ravers from countries all over Europe. The one reason to return: the love family! Guute laune!
