KrancK im FeldeWritten by Marijn van Laerhoven
The first edition of KrancK im Felde took place last weekend in the city of Utrecht, the Netherlands. That's right, not in Germany but in Holland. But surely with a big wink towards Germany. The festival saw some international stars as well as some more national established and upcoming talent artists. We went to take a look and brought some pictures back home. KrancK im Felde was a coproduction between KrancK Productions and Wesdex. The festival took place mainly over two stages of techno, house and minimal from national and international artists. Main guests M-NUS honcho Troy Pierce; German live-act duo Kollektiv Turmstrasse; Harry Axt, also known as Daniel Steinberg; Dutch Cocoon-star Egbert and German party animal Haito. Then there also was Wesdex, Daniel Zuur & Florian Wolff and De F van Funk as well as Twstd DJ-contest winners Kevin Arnemann and Milo Moraes. There was a third stage where Rotterdam's very own night major Jules Deelder played some of his jazz sounds.
Like with so many other festival days this summer, the weather gods weren't on our side. And again it turned out to be a rainy day. Not the type that will soak your feet and make you drown in mud, but still. To no surprise it seemed like people who'd otherwise come out to join the party had decided to leave early, or stay home all together. But the people that did come and stayed seemed not to care too much about the bad weather. People had fun with each other, and the music of course. And isn't that what a festival is all about, making a party no matter the side conditions? At least that's what we believe in, and so did around a thousand others today. Whilst cover for the rain had been provided by KrancK productions and Wesdex, there was a good amount of people who actually choose to party in the rain. A pleasant sight indeed. KrancK im Felde is a festival with much potential. It's very first edition already brought good music and a beautiful location to start with, and Utrecht has a scene to be proud of. Add a bit of sun next year and surely KrancK im Felde 2012 could become an even greater success. After the festival the KrancK im Felde after hour in Club Poema got completely sold out and more than 700 ravers went on until the early morning hours. Kranck!
