Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin ExperienceWritten by Carmen Garza
The show opened with scenes of home movies of the Bonhams during Jason’s childhood in England while snippets of his life were personally narrated by him. There were even scenes of a four year old Jason playing on his first set of the skins. It was quite evident how much reverence Jason has for his father. This is the driving force by which the band was created. This is John’s legacy. This is Jason’s homage. With the last utterance of words describing his childhood, the band stormed onto the stage and banged out the first chords to the super mega hit, “Rock and Roll”. James Dylan, the band’s lead singer’s voice could easily be mistaken for sounding like Robert Plant. Jason Bonham pounded away on the drums with effortless dexterity and crafted skill that one would think he was the great John Bonham instead. Lead guitarist, Tony Catania is an obvious choice who performed with finesse as though he had learned to play these Led Zeppelin songs as a kid. Rounding out Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience is former Whitesnake bassist, Michael Devin and Stephen LeBlanc on keyboards and pedal steel guitar. The audience rose to their feet when Jason virtually performed a drum solo with pure perfection to “Moby Dick” alongside his father as vintage concert footage was shown on the big screen. The band sent the crowd into a psychedelic trip with “Dazed and Confused” as Tony brought out his bow and masterfully played the strings - a feat made famous by Jimmy Page. Lucky fans that evening were able to reminisce and jam along to songs from the following setlist: Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience has just completed their North American tour and may be performing in a city near you.
