BnB Report - Loveland

imageReport -

The week leading up to the Loveland festival the weather reports were all over the place, but the BnB crew was present to report back on it, rain or no rain. So check our photos and words right after the break.

The Loveland festival terrain opened up at 11:00, and already people were a great mood. The organization was well-prepared for the rain that was predicted, with a few stages covered up and the bigger stages fitted with some tents.

This year's edition of the festival had an impressive line-up with some A-league stars in several styles. No wonder people from all across the Netherlands and even beyond travelled to the Dutch capital. The field was divided in two ‘States’, the House State and Techno State., topped of by two really cool extra villages. These were pretty small what made them very cozy and created a great atmosphere!

The BnB Crew started off at Funkerman at T-Dansant City, the moment we arrived it started raining pretty hard but it didn’t seem to influence the crowd. Some people were running away, but only to get their jacket! Funkerman, a Dutch DJ from Breda, played some nice house and was the ideal DJ to start the day with. After his set we continued to the Techno State and visited Stacey Pullen at Rise City. This DJ from Detroit has really had an influence on several DJ’s all over the world, and his set at Loveland proved why. His technical skills are very amazing and his set was really well structured.

We followed the road to NEST Village, one of the Extra Villages. When we passed by we just had to take a look inside. The crowd was going absolutely wild and some great techno tunes were played. Because it was such a small tent, it made the experience really intimate. The Dutch actor Johnny de Mol was DJ’ing and he actually surprised me with his liveset. He played some really cool songs and the photos will prove he really put an effort in his set.

A couple of times we passed the biggest stage of the Techno area Fire! City, it looked really cool! They lifted several objects with a crane which left them hanging above the crowd. Some great names were playing on this stage, including Marco Carola, Dubfire amonst others. Marco Carola played a good techno set, like this Italian DJ always does. Dubfire followed with some great uptempo beats and some of his great songs. ‘Father’ Vath did the closing set at Fire! City and he DID set this stage on fire! This DJ has been successful for so many years and the crowd really reflected his influence on multiple generations of party go-ers.

At the Rise City stage Gui Boratto started at 19.30, time was flying! His music is really colorful and really makes you smile. The fact it finally stopped raining and the sun was even shining a bit made it even better. At the same time Egbert was performing live at the Nest, so precisely after 45 minutes we decided to switch. A good set by Gui Boratto, but we just had to visit Egbert. Last year Egbert played Loveland as well and by now you can’t say he is a talent anymore. He really arrived in the upper regions of the DJ game and he did some really big gigs last year.

We closed the day off with all time legen Dimitri Kneppers. Despite his closing song did not being a the climax this festival deserved, his set was amazing overall. The veteran DJ still got it, even though he stopped playing for a few years.

Loveland was a great day and the whole festival was very well organised. Even though the weather was shitty most of the day, the atmosphere was amazing! See you next year!
