BnB @ ADE 2010 | Hercules & Love Affair

22nd October saw one of the most entertaining acts of the ADE perform at Amsterdam Club Trouw. Hercules & Love Affair were amongst the headliners of the ADE and it came as no surprise their night was completely sold out. Trouw was absolutely packed and the vibe was very energetic. How could that not be with one of the grooviest and coolest disco/electro/pop acts around?

Hercules & Love Affair used to be a part of the DFA label. This is a major label partly owned by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy. This explains where Hercules & Love Affairs house and electronic influences are coming from. The band's next album though will be released on another label, but are consistent in their in producing perfectly arranged and well sung disco tracks.

After seeing them for the first time at Melt Festival last year I immediately knew this was one amazing live show. They were by far the best and most entertaining live act of the festival, and with them playing at one of the best locations in Amsterdam this night was one I just had to be part of.

The Brooklyn based band performed most of their songs on their album 'Hercules & Love Affair' which was released back in 2008. 'Time Will', 'Hercules' Theme', 'Blind' and one of my personal favorites 'You Belong' got the crowd dancing and moving. Even without the help of Anthony (of Anthony & the Johnsons) Hercules & Love Affiar were able to rock the show like there was no tomorrow.

With their distinctive performance Hercules & Love Affair always creates this melodramatic 80's vibe. Including nice trumpet samples and more groovy house influences. During their night at Trouw they also sneak previewed some new material which will be on their upcoming album to be released on the Moshi Moshi imprint. And after this night at Trouw I can only advice you to keep a close eye on this album, it will be an absolute slammer!
