BnB @ ADE 2010 | DJ Hell & FriendsWritten by Thijs van Dun ![]() Saturday October 23rd, one of the headliners of ADE 2010; DJ Hell, released his new album GIGOLO 12. A three-disc compilation with tracks by Peter Kruder, Peaches, Anthony Rother amongst others. To celebrate Gigolo Records threw a nice bash at club AIR. First on the roster was Skwerl, who got the chance to show the Dutch crowd why he is part of the renowned Gigolo label. The young Ukrainian has mixed CD's for Gigolo, Defected and many more respected imprints. His star is rising and his sound was amazing. After that, one of DJ Hell's protégés, Tony Lionni took place behind the decks in AIR's main room. The Gigolo label member has found the perfect synergy between deep house and Detroit techno in his productions. He uses hypnotizing synth loops accompanied by pumping deep house. He also produced music for Francois K's Wave Music imprint which got him much respect from other artists. According to his set during the GIGOLO 12 release party he definitely deserves it. ![]() In the smaller area of the club, AIR2, the ladies of Dog Day Disco were in control. They've invited VEEMANJANSSEN behind the decks, a collaboration between Dutch artist Piet Parra and his friend Rimer London. They both were part of the somewhat legendary group LeLe as well. The main attraction of the night of course was DJ Hell. The head honcho of the Gigolo imprint began his set with an amazing track of Art Department. The track entitled I Can't Wait is an energetic, uplifting but yet so dark track, the perfect opening for his set. After this amazing opening he never stopped his blend of uplifting and pumping Detroit techno combined with deep house flavours. Hell played a grimey set, which he mixed together flawlessly. All the tracks were well timed and perfectly chosen. Deep and soulful tacks like Tony Lionni's Precious and Axel Boman's Purple Drank created a nice atmosphere which the crowd absolutely loved. ![]() The GIGOLO 12 release party once again proved why DJ Hell is considered one of the more influential and pioneering artists around. Him headlining the ADE should be an example to any DJ out there. An amazing night at one of the coolest club in Amsterdam. Photo credits: Nacht agenten
