Various Artist - Yousef Circus Rework

Prog - As a precursor to his new album which will hit the scene later this year, Yousef drops a fresh remix EP on which he reworks tracks from Sven Väth, Four Tet, and Moby amongst others.
After having spent most of 2010 recording for other major labels, Yousef now returns to his own Circus Recordings label for what has become his most diverse work till date. The renowned progressive house artist handpicked eight classic tracks for a Yousef treatment, and the result is definitely worth checking out. Up first is his remix of Sven Väth’s Ballet Romance, which has become a much more melodic and glowing version, although the gritty elements from the original are preserved. Yousef adds a bit of club flavor to Four Tet’s Love Cry in which the parts from the original merge well with Yousef’s proggy beats, but the real magic comes with the remix of Moby’s Wait For Me, a very warm and dreamy poolside groover with huge melodic waves. Fans of more stripped down stuff will love the rework of Kaiserdisco’s In No One Shadows, after which the EP closes with a fine mix of Yousef’s own Come Home.
Our verdict:
A very interesting EP for progressive fanatics. Not all remixes are equally cool, but you’d be a fool to skip this one.
