Troy Pierce - Voodoovoodoo

House/Techno -
Troy Pierce is set to release his first solo release on his newly found label Items And Things, which he runs together with Magda and Marc Houle.
The vinyl version features four tracks, including a remix by Dead Seal. The digi pack comes with two additional remixes by Freres Royales and Danny Benedettini. The EP opens with Slap In The Space, a very mysterious mid-tempo house track with echoing drums and sweeping percussion bits that works its way to a climax, after which things get extra messy with the inclusion of low down synths. Next Exit Lost Lake starts like some sort of space disco track, but soon enough transforms into a gnarly bass-driven house track marked by a very eerie vibe. I Need A Guide is an even spacier affair with huge didgeridoo sounding bass, after which Dead Seal drops a sweet minimal/Detroit techno mix full of fantastic synths and shakers.
Our verdict:
We've always loved Troy for his utterly varied sounds, and this EP is simply another great example of his skills. It's dar from your ordinary house and techno, but that's just one of the many reasons why this EP is so absolutely brilliant.
