Tony Rohr - Verb Is The Word EP (H Productions)Written by Youri Jozee  Techno - New York’s Tony Rohr teams up with Cari Lekebusch’s H Productions for his next EP Verb Is The Word… Tony Rohr is one of NY’s most respected techno DJs due to his dynamic and ever evolving sound. This new EP sees him turning to the heavy sound of techno in the form of two awesome cuts: Oddmekanix and Sleestak. The first one is a full-on, spaced out techno tune with nasty acid basslines and extremely powerful floor destroying beats that will have any club turning into a sweaty madhouse. The build up to the breakdown is ace, while the breakdown and climax themselves are among the heaviest we’ve heard in recent months. A real killer cut, full support! Sleestak is the complete opposite, drawing on a minimal vibe while retaining the industrial vibe as heard on the first track on this EP. The groove is much more dynamic, while mental effects, robotic bleeps and soaring bass decorate the tune throughout its duration. It’s different, yes, but definitely well worth checking out. Rohr does it again on this fat EP. Both tracks reflect the producer’s talent for creating compelling techno, with both tracks covering what techno is all about these days. Recommended.
