Tiga - Gentle Giant (Remixes)

imageEP Review -
The third in Tiga’s Ciao! Remix EPs features the track of Gentle Giant, which has been reworked by Martyn, Efdemin and Mathew Jonson. Judging by those names, you hardly can go wrong eh?

And trust us, this EP is worth the purchase. The original track features Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) and James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and has been labeled Tiga’s album fave. Up first is the heaven remix by Dutch DJ/producer and man of the moment Martyn. Broken beats and silky choir patterns make up a very beautiful collage of esoteric bits in which the original elements are well predeserved.

Efdemin’s mix is a much more club-orientated cut that takes its time to build up towards a very deep groove marked by thin synth pads and a great vocal outtake. Definitely a tune that will do well in those dirty basement clubs Mathew Jonson delivers two remixes (incl. one Dub) which sound like some sort of wobbly electro-house turned minimal cut with some chunky synth bits on the side. Very obscure stuff, but definitely worth a spin.

We loved the original mix of Gentle Giant, but these remix add their own flavor to the overall resulting in four highly enjoyable reworks. We like.
