Tech-HouseSpanish talents Coyu, Under and Edu Imbernon step up to remix X-Press 2's Spanish EP. Issued under the title The House Of X-PRess 2: The 2011 Spanish Remixes, this EP includes three remixes by some of Spain's finest new talents.
Up first is Uner whose rework of X-Press 2's soon-to-be-classic Kill 100 is a minimal tech-house-y tune with bumpy basslines and lush strings in the background. The intro isn't that great, but this track's merit is revealed as soon as all elements collide in the first break. Sound wise, Edu Imbernon's remix of Lazy is comparable to Uner's track, but it doesn't very well here. The original's catchy, poppy vibe is completely torn apart and replaced by a weak tech rhythm, and that doesn't make us very happy. Closing the EP is Coyu's remix of Muzik XPress, which is an extremely funky uptempo tech house belter that doesn't leave much of the original intact, but instead serves up a highly energetic piece of tech material.
Our verdict:
A decent remix package, this one. Although we're not feeling everything we hear on this EP, we're sure it will definitely find its way to the clubs.
