Tensnake – Coma Cat (Remixes)Written by Manu Ekanayake house/disco -Coma Cat is everywhere right now – but that doesn’t mean it stops being good. Tensnake finally made the big time with this disco-inflected house number, so here's Defected with some extra remixes to show just how far this one can go. Rocking like an Ibiza sunrise… Wondering about the Radio Edit of Coma Cat? Well, it’s just a succinct version of the startlingly infectious original. So that's fresh keys that slide along with a HUGE bassline that positively secretes Serotonin as the cymbals clashing, bells whistle and smiles break out all over the dancefloor. One of the biggest tunes of 2010, in other words. But the real reason for this Defected re-release is the remixes, of course. The Round Table Knights give us a version that starts off as more-stripped back affair but eventually rises to more of a crescendo. You can imagine one of the Swedish House Mafia caning this in Ibiza – it’s got the kind of titanic breakdown that their crowds love. Let’s just say that subtlety isn’t the key here. The Treasure Fingers remix, though, is a very different affair. Making a feature of the delicate keyboards, the track layers on more soaring FX as it builds, resulting in a slightly retro 90s houser that’s a bit more restrained than the other two mixes. So while we’re all for a bit of variety here at Beatsandbeyond.com, we’ll probably go for the Original Mix if you’re asking? Cheers. Rating: 8.0/10
