Taster Peter & Phunx - Shared People

imageEP Review -

Take it from us that Christian Smith’s Tronic label is among the hottest imprints to turn to for quality house and techno these days. Up next on its release roster is this new cut by Taster Peter & Phunx titled Shared People. Is it hot?

Fuck yeah! The EP features two tracks that have a pleasant oldschool vibe to them, merging tribal techno to oldschool house and waht not. The result? Huuuuge banger alert!. First up is Shared People, a mean techno beats with growling vocal cuts, snippets of the well known Renegade Master/Power To The People vox and a huuuuge supply of punchy kicks, whirlwind percussion and basslines so low and dirty they’ll blow you out of your socks just like that. Add a massive build up and some seriously shaking breakdowns to that and you have yourself a high quality house/techno hybrid for the clubs.

Jambo Yaaba on the flipside is a bit more minimal but boy o boy we bet you’re gonna soil yourself of excitement once that reverse bassline comes knocking on your door. This tune’s rhythm’s a bit Technasia, a bit Joris Voorn, while fx come in the form of a load of vocal cut-ups (not the cheesy ones. Things have really been given a lot of thought here), and a fat jacking overall production. The main breakdown and climax in the middle is insane. Big room stuff, better believe it.

Final verdict: Tronic continues its impressive discography with another praiseworthy addition. Both tracks on this baby kick like a mule and ooze with a-grade quality. Very well done.
