Speedy J & Gary Beck - Vaag EPWritten by Youri Jozee Techno - Both Jochem Paap (Speedy J) as Gary Beck need no introduction and if you've been keeping a close eye on the techno scene, we assume you've heard of Edit Select too. Let's skip the nonsensical yapping and get straight to brass tacks. Up first is Gary Beck's Deranged Version of Vaag, a mid-tempo, reverb-fused techno tune that combines Speedy J's industrial sound to Gary's trademarked melodic approach. The result is a super heavy, bit repetitive floor mover with some very nice effecting. Following up is Edit Select's Slo Hand Dub, a much more stripped and dubby take on the original designed for dark room clubbing, after which Speedy J drops his Fuzzy Bizznizz remix that sounds equally dubby and is topped with a warm, druggy vibe. Closing the EP is a beatless tool version of Vaag for you to experiment with. Our verdict: Coolness. You can count on Jochem and Gary to drop some heavy tec hno, and that's exactly what they do. A winner. Rating: 8.0/10 Label: Bek Audio Release date: July 5th, 2011
