Slam - Maffaking EPWritten by Youri Jozee NewsVeteran techno outfit Slam is back with a brand new release on Adam Beyer's Drumcode imprint. Slam! Drumcode! Tech heads do you copy? The Maffaking EP has been surrounded by a huge buzz over the past few weeks. DJs just can't seem to get enough of it and we're not surprised. This EP is 'maffaking' awesome and here's why... The title track is a fat uptempo beast boasting those deep, thundering signature Slam beats with psychedelic synth waves occasionaly decorating the sequence. The energetic drum rattles are insane and as the tune progresses, more and more sick fx are added. Check out that nasty, almost epic monster of a synth wave and you'll know what you'll be rocking to this summer.Last Sonic Approach on the B-side packs a more spacey punch with a sequence filled with bleeps and techy percussion, while slowly building up towards sheer club destruction in the form of reptitive loops and fx. It's as deep as the title track, yet much more hypnotising and obviously created with dark filthy basements in mind. Dirty rocking techno alert! Slam's Maffaking EP is a solid techno punch in the face oozing with quality: Slam still proves to move mountains with their much-copied-but-never-matched sound. Expect to come across this massive slammer during your festival visits this year. A1. Maffakking B1. Last Sonic Approach Rating: 8.0/10 Label: Drumcode Release date: July 2010 Â
