SCNTST - Monday

Boysnoize Records presents the debut EP by 17-year old SCNTST, a massive five-track techno affair.

Now that we have come to the point where making music no longer requires expensive analog gear, more and more youngsters step up with often very surprising material. This EP is a good example of that. Up first is the title track, a very original take on techno. Crunk beats are combined to sweeping fx and loads of reverbs, creating a frenetic mid-tempo beast that will destroy any floor. Beachboy takes a more dubstep-meets-Ed Banger-orientated direction, with fierce claps, digital bass and 808 samples forming a highly energetic mash. Globus relies on a more minimal approach, with stuttering fx and muddy bass as its main ingredients, after which 909 Time delivers a trancey Detroit-tinged track. Closing the EP is the Beatport exclusive Stracia, a mental tech-housian chunk of techno with a propelling groove in the middle part.

Our verdict:
SCNTST drops a huge debut EP, and we can't wait to hear more from this guy.
